Volunteer Art Teachers

For all arts & crafts fans! If you would like to share your gift consider volunteering as an Art Teacher. Our Music Therapy Program includes an Arts & Crafts component.
We are looking for 1-2 arts & crafts teacher volunteers.

Details:
- participants are adults with varying disabilities
- instruct participants in making a small art project/simple craft following the music class on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (10:45 for an hour commitment)
- create a lesson plan for a class of up to 12 people
- set up art supplies on tables ready for the group when music is over
- actively engaging with the members in the class and assisting them with their projects
- adapt to the different learning styles of members and accommodating their needs through demonstrations, and simplification of complex instruction though descriptions and examples when necessary
- document inventory of art supplies in the cupboards and use as much present art supplies if possible, and communicating with the program coordinator if art supplies need to be purchased.
- updating CPAA staff with advanced notice of absence - preferably 24 hours prior notice
- offering support, suggestions and interaction with new volunteers
- provide yearly police checks
