Think about a person that makes you feel important and valued, that helped with your self-confidence and growth and saw potential in you. You can be that person for one of our kids in Calgary by volunteering as a mentor with Hull Services. How can you help? Be a positive role model, help a youth navigate challenges, identify and develop their strengths, build their self-esteem, improve their life skills, and expose them to new interests and opportunities. Caring and supportive relationships are essential to a child’s development and well-being. At Hull Services mentors are part of our holistic approach to treatment and care. Mentors are often the only unpaid support in the children’s lives. What’s in it for you? It feels good to do good. Your time, perspective and skills can influence a young person’s path and future. Throughout your involvement, our team at Hull Services will be there to listen and to provide support and guidance. Learn about trauma, mental health and building positive relationships, and access several valuable training opportunities for personal development. Volunteering can enhance your skills and your connections to the community. We are currently looking for MALE MENTORS for children and youth ages 8 to 15. These boys are interested in connecting with a male role model who they can look to for support and guidance. They come from different backgrounds and have a variety of interests such as sports, outdoor activities, gaming and cooking. Locations of opportunities: Kids currently looking for mentors are living at home or in foster care in the following communities: Deer Ridge, Dover, Forest Lawn, Radisson, Martindale, Killarney, Glamorgan, Edgemont, Evanston, Huntington Hills, Fairview, Woodbine, Shawnessy and Airdrie. Commitment: An average of 1 to 4 hours per week, with a goal of building a long-lasting and meaningful relationship.
