Afterschool NxtGen (Jr. High) Program Assistant

The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth is seeking Volunteers to support an innovative and well-established Afterschool Program for immigrant and refugee children and youth in Calgary. The Afterschool Program aims to keep immigrant and refugee youth (Grades 1 - 12) positively engaged during critical after school hours by providing academic support, English language development, recreational activities and healthy life skills. 

As a Program Assistant for NxtGen Junior High, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of immigrant and refugee youth (Grades 7 – 9). We look for energized, driven, and approachable volunteers who can support the youth while serving as a positive role model that students can look up to. You can achieve this by bringing your unique skills and personality traits to our diverse team. We encourage you to be enthusiastic, be accountable, and lead by example. Volunteers are required to work 2.5 hours (between 2 pm to 6 pm) once a week from the beginning of October to the middle of December. 

The followings are the duties of a NxtGen (Jr. High) Program Assistant:
1.	Build relationships with students and be a resource of support and guidance
2.	Ensure all program participants are treated with respect and integrity
3.	Assist, prepare, and participate in activities with youth and staff, in the classroom, field trips, and community events 
4.	Ensure the well-being of all participants by creating and maintaining a safe learning environment
5.	Be a positive role model by showcasing leadership skills and building relationships with students
6.	Attend training, as required

    Wednesday, time to be decided
4. Annie Gale School, 577 Whiteridge Way NE, Monday 
    2:45 to 4:45 pm
5. Crossing Park School, 500 Martindale Blvd NE, 
     Calgary: Tuesday 2:45 to 4:45 pm
6. Father Scollen School, 6839 Temple Dr. NE, Calgary: 
    Wednesday 3:15 to 5:15 pm
7. St. Rose of Lima School, 2419 50 St NE, Calgary: 
    Thursday 30:00 to 5:00 pm
