Color Me Rad Calgary is a colourful 5K run benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Runners get plastered with powders and gels of pink, yellow, green, blue, and violet every 5 minutes. For every 5 hour shift that a volunteer completes, Color Me Rad will donate 75 dollars to the Alberta Cancer Foundation! We are needing volunteers for June 23, 2018 (race day).

June 23 - All shifts on the 23rd go from 7am - 1pm.

VOLUNTEER ROLE: Colour Stations (1 volunteer needed)
We will have 5 colour stations along the course. There will be 4 powder color stations and 1 gel colour station. Each station will need 10 volunteers. There will be 8 volunteers throwing colour on the runners and 2 that will guard the extra color boxes from runners trying to steal the colour. Volunteers will be trained on their specific tasks before the race. Each volunteer will be given a Color Me Rad t-shirt for the event.

VOLUNTEER ROLE: Garbage Control (4 volunteers needed)
During the event, we like to have 3-4 people walking around and collecting trash and water bottles so that runners to not step on them and injure themselves. Moreover, we want to keep the space nice and clean like how we found it. Exact instruction will be given on race day.

VOLUNTEER ROLE: Race Day Packet Pick Up (6 volunteers needed)
Same as the previous day. Volunteers will be using a scanner to check in runners, handing out shirts, and selling color packages to runners who may want extra. There will always be at least 1 Color Me Rad Staff member there to help answer questions and manage the flow of packet pick up. Each volunteer will receive a Color Me Rad t-shirt. It helps to have the same people take this shift that was there the day before if possible, because they already know the process and all the answers to runner questions.

VOLUNTEER ROLE: Stage Line Helpers (1 volunteer needed)
The start line Master of Ceremonies will need 2 people to hold the start rope. This role will not last for the entire duration of your shift, therefore, you must be flexible in taking on different tasks assigned by event staff after your initial task is complete.

VOLUNTEER ROLE: Traffic Control (10 volunteers needed)
The race will wind through a residential neighborhood and several roads will be blocked off. We will need 10 volunteers to make sure cars do not drive around temporary barriers and onto our course. This is a straight forward but important task, in order maintain safety for everyone involved! It is crucial that the volunteers stay in their position until City of Calgary employees tell us it is ok to leave. Therefore, shift time is subject to change.

Is there transportation to the event?

Unfortunately there is no transportation provided, however there is available parking on site. The C-Train is also a viable option for Race Day will occur at SAIT Polytechnic - Parking Lot P1 - 6205 SAIT Way NW.

Water and snacks will be provided. Please provide your own lunch and please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your shift to check in.

Shift time may be subjected to change.
