As a Youth Mentor Volunteer with the Cultural Links Youth Program, you could make a big difference in the lives of newcomer youth with a time commitment of just two hours per week! Volunteers in this role support newcomer children and youth through weekly Homework Clubs programs linked to various schools around Edmonton, where these children and youth receive support to learn English, get help with their homework, adjust to life in Canada, and build meaningful relationships. Homework Clubs takes place during the day Monday to Thursday, as they are taking place during school hours or directly after school. Volunteers may be working with students during regular school hours with activities such as reading and ESL focused games, or helping students in a more traditional, after-school club setting. The goals of this program are not simply academic but also focused on building positive relationships with the children and youth.
