The PSI is a non-profit group of communicators and science enthusiasts who attempt to help make science more understandable and accessible to the public. For more information, please visit www.PublicScienceInstitute.org. The PSI gives public talks on scientific concepts and research in a way that is understandable to the general public. The manager will provide leadership and direction to the public talks team to plan, organize and execute these talks. Duties include: -Working with other PSI members to determine topics of interest -Booking talks at publicly accessible locations -Booking speakers to give the talks -Attending and evaluating the talks -Working with other PSI teams to promote the event -Introducing speakers and facilitating Q&A sessions after the talks Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm are necessary, and communication skills will be heavily used. The time commitment for this role is roughly 2-4 hours per week fitting your schedule.
