"Lend a hand" and put smiles on faces - Join First Lutheran's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program! Support taxpayers by helping them to process their T slips and other income documents into completed tax returns. Be supported by other team members who share the desire to help others!

As a CVITP Income Tax Preparer, your primary role will be to file taxes for people with modest incomes and simple situation taxes.

If you have some work experience or personal experience in filing income taxes and you are as comfortable with crunching numbers as you are with having calm conversations with people, you may be perfect for this role! It's great if you are a CPA, but we will train and mentor you if you are not.

After you become a member of the team, you will be required to register and be certified as a CVITP volunteer. This role also requires that you obtain your E-file number and complete CVITP training, which is issued by CRA each year.

For those of you who want a longer-term volunteer commitment: this role is eligible for on-going, flexible volunteer role because FLC's tax clinics support Calgary on a monthly or bi-monthly basis throughout the year.

Once you join First Lutheran's CVITP team, you may choose your session times and locations. Sessions last from four to six hours mostly during weeknights and weekends. Some shorter sessions are offered during the week over lunchtime.

First Lutheran's tax clinics are located at city-wide Calgary Public Library branches and other community organizations. Most clinic locations are on direct transit routes.

Volunteer for just one session or choose to volunteer for many more sessions throughout this tax season! We look very forward to hearing from you.
