General volunteers are at the heart of the Children's Festival and make up the vast majority of our volunteers. They are in every aspect of the Festival, including ushering, registration, green team, hospitality and all our site activities. They also help with set-up and tear-down of the site. As a general volunteer, you can choose which activity out of a huge variety of options. Do you want to help teach kids about reconciliation as they make Métis beading? There's a job for that. Do you want to drive a golf cart around and help keep the site clean? There's a job for that. Do you want to help bake the fresh cookies we serve daily in our Volunteer Headquarters? There's a job for that. Would you like to help six-year-olds write and decorate their own poetry? You guessed it, there's a job for that.
To volunteer with the Festival, you must be 12 years or older, be willing to volunteer for a minimum of 6 hours, and be passionate about introducing children to the arts. There is no expectation of experience or prior knowledge, as we think the Festival is a great place to learn new skills. At the Children's Festival, we are extremely proud of our diverse volunteer core. We welcome volunteers of all ages, religions, levels of ability, genders, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds and nationalities.
For anyone interested in learning a bit more about volunteering at the Children's Festival, we have two orientations on Wednesday, May 16th or Thursday, May 17th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the St. Albert Curling Club (3 Tache Street).
