Children’s Link Develop a Platform For Change
Children’s Link Society is known and valued for providing resources, information and parent-to-parent connections, and hope to families and professionals who care for and work with children and youth with special needs. Given their work, they knew that there was real potential in developing their digital platform to make it more useful, not just for their local clients, but to support individuals globally.
To take on a project like this, in need of a major digital subject matter expert, they contacted Propellus and we connected them to Structured Abstraction. After all, Structured Abstraction supported us in redesigning our website, Volunteer Connector and Member Portal designed to make everything more useful for the volunteer. This is what Children’s Link were looking for, a platform that kept their clients needs and behaviours top of mind.
“We’ve done it strategically. We’ve got the road map built and we now have each step built into our strategic plan. We’re going to ensure that this is a community-focused project.”
What was so unique about Children’s Link Society is how they were thinking of collaboration and community benefit from the start. “Why should someone else have to build their own platform from scratch,” says ED, Blythe Gunn. “We’re doing the work to build out the platform, and other organizations with similar missions will be able to easily add on to the platform.”
Any digital work comes with a sizeable price tag, at least by non-profit terms, so by having the Transform Your Story Fund, provided by Chevron, kick start this process, we’re proud to say that Children’s Link Society have already found second phase funding and are moving along with their work at a steady pace.
